Thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been routinely beaten while in police custody for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. Police frequently beat practitioners with plastic truncheons, wooden boards, belts, and spiked batons, to name just a few. Many practitioners have had their bones broken or have incurred internal bleeding as a result of these beatings, and dozens – if not hundreds – have died. Based on reports from across China, different detention centres use the idea of the water dungeon in different ways. Water dungeon is a grotesque torture. A victim is stripped down to underwear or naked and locked into a small iron cage with spikes on all sides. Some water dungeons submerge a Falun Gong practitioner in chest-deep, filthy water; in others, the water is too deep to stand in. Usually, the water dungeons are well-hidden rooms or cells where practitioners are forced to stay for days and nights on end in total darkness. On July 19th, 2000, a group of police officers broke into Shujie uncle's home and abducted all adults in the house in front of Shujie. On December 3rd, 2000, the police took Shujie's father and Shujie to the Guansi Police Station for interrogation. Before Shujie's father even opened his mouth, the officer used a book to slap his face. Shujie immediately passed out from shock and fear. After she woke up, she had a fever and was sweating. She shook her head from side to side due to severe pain in her head. She was restless and uneasy and banged her head against the wall. In the persecution in China, tens of thousands of innocent Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested and subjected to severe forms of mental and physical torture, causing unimaginable emotional pain to families and loved ones. As a result of these cruelties, many children lost a parent or even both parents, including others who could take care of them. The number of death cases keeps growing and many children have become orphaned. In addition, some children have become a direct target in the persecution and have been tortured to death or put in prisons or labour camps. Wang Defu, male, was born on October 19th, 1992. When he was 9 years old, his mother Ms Zhang Haiyan, who started to practise Falun Gong in 1996, went to Beijing to appeal for the justice of Falun Gong. She was arrested and eventually sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp where she suffered inhuman torture. In March 2003, she was sent home completely mentally disturbed. During the 10 months she was at home, she never dared to speak to anyone, including her husband and child. Her family members never dared to talk to her loudly, because they didn't want to scare her. Even if it was just a child yelling nearby, she would be frightened to the point that her face became pale and she shivered all over. On January 18th, 2004, she passed away. READ MORE
Shang Liyun is an 11-year-old girl from Caiyuancun Village, Chengguan Town, Pingdu City, Shandong Province. She is a Year 6 pupil at the Qingdaolu Road Elementary School that belongs to the Chengguan Office of Pingdu City. Her father Shang Baolin died on October 10th, 2002. His death was the result of the relentless persecution he suffered for practising Falun Gong. Shang Liyun's mother, Zhang Zengyan, was abducted on October 17th, 2004, while she was talking to people about the facts of Falun Gong with a group of practitioners. Now Shang Liyun has become an orphan. Only her female cousin who is merely a few years older than Shang cooks meals for her now. Wang Yuexing, Born on January 9th, 1992, became an orphan after his father Wang Kemin was persecuted to death in 2003. He now lives with his uncle Wang Kelong and his grandmother Wang Yanzhi, since his mother died as well. READ MORE
Huang Ying (nickname: Kai Xin), female, was born on May 18th, 2001. Three months after Huang Ying's birth, she was forced to separate from her mother to avoid persecution. That was the last time she saw her mother alive. READ MORE
Piao Yonghe is a Korean Chinese, who was born on November 5th, 1994, and is currently in Year 5. He is living with his maternal grandparents after his mother Cui Zhengshu died in the persecution. READ MORE
Huhu was born in a happy family. Both his father Yu Chao and mother Chu Tong, graduates from the prestigious Qinghua University of China, are Falun Gong practitioners. They used to have very good jobs. However, because of peacefully appealing for Falun Gong, his mother Chu Tong was secretly sentenced to 18 months. As she exposed her experience of being persecuted, the police searched for her and she had to escape from home. Huhu then had to follow his parents to escape from one place to another to avoid being arrested. Facing such high pressure and unstable life, they were forced to leave Huhu with a friend. READ MORE

While growing up, she has travelled with her mother to 37 countries, to tell people the tragic story of her father who died as a result of persecution for refusing to give up practising Falun Gong in China. Zang Dianlong was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. He was persecuted to death in 2002 at the age of 41. Surviving are his two sons, Zang Haoran and Zang Haotong. READ MORE

The force-feeding is most often carried out by labour camp staff with no medical training, or by criminal inmates who are coerced to assist.
Firm, unsanitised tubes are forced into a practitioner’s nose and into the stomach, often rupturing or damaging tissues; sometimes the tube enters the lungs instead.
The tubes are sometimes left in a practitioner’s stomach for days or weeks, causing severe infections, or pulled out and reinserted repeatedly.
The practitioners are often “fed” irritants such as highly concentrated salt water, hot pepper oil, boiling water, or detergent. READ MORE
The emotional bond that a mother has with her child, born or unborn, is sacred and powerful. In labour camps in China, this bond is not only disregarded, but it is even used as a weapon to force pregnant women or mothers to give up their belief in Falun Gong. The inhuman and sadistic nature of the persecution is exemplified in the sexual abuse suffered by Falun Gong practitioners at the hands of Chinese authorities. The forms of sexual torture include rape, molestation, shocking genitals with electric batons, raping Falun Gong practitioners with foreign objects (including toilet brushes and batons), shoving hot peppers into vaginas, pinching genitals or nipples even to the point of tearing them off, kicking genitals, piercing nipples with hot irons, stripping practitioners naked and beating them, forcefully administering drugs that cause menstruation to cease, and more.
