Practitioners tortured in Xingtai Brainwashing Centre in Hebei Province

(Minghui.org) Surrounded by high walls topped with barbed wire and secured with an iron gate, the notorious Xingtai Brainwashing Centre lies roughly 330 yards east of the Xingtai Epilepsy Hospital on Donghuan Road, which leads into Jing'an Village. Over the last decade, the brainwashing centre has jailed and tortured many Falun Gong practitioners. Some were taken to the centre directly by local police, and others were transferred from forced labour camps and prisons. READ MORE

He received an unsigned letter from the Jiangsu branch of CPAFFC (Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries), a CCP organisation, on January 13th, 2014. The letter demanded that he withdraw his support for Falun Gong and urged him to ask his colleagues to do the same.

Mr MacLaren stated that the demands of CCP organisations have no influence over his decisions. On the contrary, he said, the letter has prompted him to step up his efforts to support Falun Gong practitioners. READ MORE

Chinese official linked to former security boss removed

A top communist official with ties to the former security czar has been dismissed and subject to an investigation, according to a brief statement in the official Chinese press recently.

Li Chongxi, the official, is most notable for being an underling close to the former security chief Zhou Yongkang. Li was the highest-level secretary to Zhou when Zhou was the Party secretary of Sichuan Province from 1999 to 2002.

For years Li was also an active participant in the campaign against the Falun Gong spiritual practice, beginning in 1999, that was organised by former Party leader Jiang Zemin. Zhou Yongkang, Li’s direct boss, was also a key official in the campaign against Falun Gong. READ MORE

'Shutdown' of labour camps does not mean the end of persecution

(Minghui.org) Chinese officials publicly announced their decision to abolish the notorious forced labour camp system on January 7th, 2013, according to a December 2013 Amnesty International report. The "education through labour" system, as authorities call it, has existed for nearly six decades. The name is deceptive, however, as these are forced labour camps, pure and simple, with brainwashing and torture commonplace in addition to overwork and dangerous working conditions.

The forced labour camp system in China is declared to have been “shutdown,” but the harm and pain it has caused to millions of people, especially Falun Gong practitioners, has long-lasting effects. READ MORE
