United Nations: raising awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners' children

(Minghui.org) On September 26th and 27th, the Committee on the Rights of the Child of the United Nations reviewed the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in China. Several organisations submitted reports detailing the human right violations with regard to Chinese children. The Chinese government signed the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1997. However, the rights of children in China have not been well protected. The problems include child labour, sexual harassment, and rape of children by government officials and schoolteachers and children being kidnapped. READ MORE

New York City woman's family abducted in China

NEW YORK – A young woman living in New York is working to secure the release of her relatives in northeastern China, even as she struggles to know more about their condition and even precise whereabouts.

22-year-old Ms Liu Junchun’s mother, father, aunt and uncle were all abducted from their two respective homes in Jilin City on the evening of July 1st, 2012.  Earlier on the same day, Jilin City police travelled 60 miles away to Changchun City, where they abducted Ms Liu’s 17-year-old cousin and six other Falun Gong practitioners.

Wang Shujie, a 4-year-old girl from Shandong Province, died as a result of a trauma

On July 19th, 2000, a group of police officers broke into Shujie uncle's home and abducted all adults in the house in front of Shujie. On December 3rd, 2000, the police took Shujie's father and Shujie to the Guansi Police Station for interrogation. Before Shujie's father even opened his mouth, the officer used a book to slap his face. Shujie immediately passed out from shock and fear. After she woke up, she had a fever and was sweating. She shook her head from side to side due to severe pain in her head. She was restless and uneasy and banged her head against the wall. After she returned home, she was in a lethargic sleep for a whole day. READ MORE

In the persecution in China, tens of thousands of innocent Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested and subjected to severe forms of mental and physical torture, causing unimaginable emotional pain to families and loved ones. As a result of these cruelties, many children lost a parent or even both parents, including others who could take care of them. The number of death cases keeps growing and many children have become orphaned. In addition, some children have become a direct target in the persecution and have been tortured to death or put in prisons or labour camps. Wang Defu, 12 years old, needed to drop out of school to support his family after his mother died

Wang Defu, male, was born on October 19th, 1992. When he was 9 years old, his mother Ms Zhang Haiyan, who started to practise Falun Gong in 1996, went to Beijing to appeal for the justice of Falun Gong. She was arrested and eventually sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp where she suffered inhuman torture. In March 2003, she was sent home completely mentally disturbed. During the 10 months she was at home, she never dared to speak to anyone, including her husband and child. Her family members never dared to talk to her loudly, because they didn't want to scare her. Even if it was just a child yelling nearby, she would be frightened to the point that her face became pale and she shivered all over. On January 18th, 2004, she passed away. READ MORE

Shang Liyun, 11 years old. Father dies and mother imprisoned

Shang Liyun is an 11-year-old girl from Caiyuancun Village, Chengguan Town, Pingdu City, Shandong Province. She is a Year 6 pupil at the Qingdaolu Road Elementary School that belongs to the Chengguan Office of Pingdu City. Her father Shang Baolin died on October 10th, 2002. His death was the result of the relentless persecution he suffered for practising Falun Gong. Shang Liyun's mother, Zhang Zengyan, was abducted on October 17th, 2004, while she was talking to people about the facts of Falun Gong with a group of practitioners. Now Shang Liyun has become an orphan. Only her female cousin who is merely a few years older than Shang cooks meals for her now. Falun Gong practitioners also visit her regularly and bring some food for her. READ MORE

Huhu, 4-year-old boy, left alone after happy family torn apart by persecution

Huhu was born in a happy family. Both his father Yu Chao and mother Chu Tong, graduates from the prestigious Qinghua University of China, are Falun Gong practitioners. They used to have very good jobs. However, because of peacefully appealing for Falun Gong, his mother Chu Tong was secretly sentenced to 18 months. As she exposed her experience of being persecuted, the police searched for her and she had to escape from home. Huhu then had to follow his parents to escape from one place to another to avoid being arrested. Facing such high pressure and unstable life, they were forced to leave Huhu with a friend. READ MORE
