Lawsuits On December 12th, the renowned human and civil rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng published his third open letter to Chinese President Hu Jintao and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to speak for Falun Gong. Risking his business and his licence, he once again disclosed the severe persecution towards Falun Gong practitioners in the past six years. This letter has shocked the world and has in the meantime spread to many overseas media and among the people in China. It has also caused criticism of the brutality of the Chinese government.
Lawsuits Falun Gong practitioners from Shijiazhuang City in Hebei Province, Mr and Mrs Huang Wei, were recently released thanks to justice activists’ appeals and rescue efforts around the world. To appeal for Huang Wei, Beijing lawyer Gao Zhisheng wrote an open letter to the National People’s Congress, which was published at the end of last year. It stood up boldly for Falun Gong and shook the high levels of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Mainland China Rights Defenders Net published an appeal for the world to support lawyer Gao.

Family and children In the persecution in China, tens of thousands of innocent Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested and subjected to severe forms of mental and physical torture, causing unimaginable emotional pain to families and loved ones. As a result of these cruelties, many children lost a parent or even both parents, including others who could take care of them. The number of death cases keeps growing and many children have become orphaned. In addition, some children have become a direct target in the persecution and have been tortured to death or put in prisons or labour camps. Family and children The emotional bond that a mother has with her child, born or unborn, is sacred and powerful. In labour camps in China, this bond is not only disregarded, but it is even used as a weapon to force pregnant women or mothers to give up their belief in Falun Gong. Beating pregnant women and forced abortions frequently take place.
Sexual assault The inhuman and sadistic nature of the persecution is exemplified in the sexual abuse suffered by Falun Gong practitioners at the hands of Chinese authorities. The forms of sexual torture include rape, molestation, shocking genitals with electric batons, raping Falun Gong practitioners with foreign objects (including toilet brushes and batons), shoving hot peppers into vaginas, pinching genitals or nipples even to the point of tearing them off, kicking genitals, piercing nipples with hot irons, stripping practitioners naked and beating them, forcefully administering drugs that cause menstruation to cease, and more. The victims of such sexual abuse include young, unmarried women and seniors.
