14 years of persecution and resilience

16/08/2013

Falun Gong is the spiritual discipline whose practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Today, millions of people in over 60 countries around the world enjoy the peaceful practice of Falun Gong and live their lives according to its virtuous teachings.

Falun Gong is also known worldwide as defenders for freedom of belief for millions of people inside China.

July 20th marks the 14th anniversary of the illegal persecution against Falun Gong in China.

On July 20th 1999, the Chinese communist party lead by Jiang Zemin, ordered an illegal attack on Falun Gong with the mandate to “completely eliminate” the spiritual practice, when he found that 1 out of 12 Chinese were practising Falun Gong, a practice that was not controlled by the communist party.

For the past 14 years human rights groups, the United Nations and Western governments have documented the severe human rights abuses happening to Falun Gong practitioners in China. These rights abuses include the killing of thousands, the imprisonment of millions in labour camps, the torture, and rape cases of tens of thousands, the destruction of tens of millions of families, and the reports of over 60,000 murdered by state officials so their vital organs could be sold to transplant tourists through state-run hospitals.  Reports also expose the massive hate propaganda campaign against Falun Gong, labelling them as political, traitors or worse, that has fuelled the persecution since day one.

Reports have also uncovered that in order to hide their crimes from the international community, the leaders of China threaten and bribe Western media and government officials to turn their backs on the persecution or face economic and political ramifications.

Today, the deadly persecution still continues. However after 14 years, the Chinese regime has failed to silence the voices of justice and the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance.

Today, 14 years later, the teachings of Falun Gong still thrive, and Falun Gong practitioners worldwide and in China continue to expose the truth of the atrocities happening in China today.

And they are not alone.

Millions of people around the world have signed petitions to demand an end to these crimes.

Ten senior Chinese officials are facing trial for their crimes against humanity, and other nations have litigation prepared to sue these people if they step onto their soil.

Every day in China millions of people receive phone calls, emails, flyers and DVDs from Falun Gong practitioners to help educate them about the abuses occurring in their own backyards. This helps pull back the veil erected by state-run propaganda, so the people can see to what extent they've been dooped into being complicit in these abuses.

The Chinese Communist Party’s plans to destroy Falun Gong have utterly failed and those responsible will face justice for their crimes against humanity.

We are here to commemorate all of the brave and selfless practitioners who have suffered or been killed from the persecution while standing peacefully to protect Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance for the future of their society.
